Series: Fairy Tail Animation Company: Funimation Song: Falling Artist: NSync

From beginning to the end, the editing of this video took approximately 4 to 5 hours to put together. Again, the process is the same as the last – Having to pick out a series to make the AMV (Anime Music Video) for to the type of video to make, such as will it be just focusing specifically on a character or two or will it be on focused on various characters in as big of a number as six or seven characters. And most importantly, one thing that any and all types of music videos need – Music.

For this specific video, what I started off with was the continued muse (inspiration) from the previously made video – “Gajeel X Levy – Say Something”. For a few days, I’ve been listening to some extreme oldies, and what I used to love as an elementary schooler, and I’ve been a huge fan of an all male band that would be pretty much the equivalency of today’s One Direction – NSync. I’ve gone back and listened to a couple, and “Falling” caught my attention, and couldn’t help but think about how I could take the video to be that it was Gajeel Redfox (the raven haired male) singing it to Levy McGarden (the blue headed female).

The episodes I mainly focused on clips to from two specific episodes – Episode 45 and episode 102. The episode where Gajeel is singing, however, is from episode 41 in an attempt to take an approach to make it seem as if Gajeel’s actually singing in front of the entire guild to confess to Levy of his love for her. The first few scenes in the beginning are also from a different episode, episode 21, and the reason for starting off with Levy and two of her friends (her teammates to be more specific) is because that’s the first time Gajeel and Levy actually met, and used that as the point to show and say that it was that very moment that Gajeel had fallen in love with her for the part of music that goes, “I’ve been falling, falling/Ever since the moment I first laid my eyes on you”. And even with having to have attacked, he has that guilt and been dreaming about her ever since.

There are parts of the song where I took it literally, such as with having to fall, and also tried to use lyrics in ways where Gajeel would be giving those flash back sort of moments to try and recall to all times he felt his feelings towards Levy only growing. But having to go through all episodes if not for knowing exactly which scenes wanting to be used alone can take hours at a time.

This specific AMV took several hours to put together altogether, but when it came to knowing exactly which scenes of wanting to be used, having to track down specific episodes took only fifteen to thirty minutes at a time and another five to fifteen minutes to find the exact scenes. Of course, having to time it so that specific amount of time to match the timing to the lyrics and to its tempo takes time as well. How quick specific time can be found in terms of extending and cutting down the duration time all depends on how soon it can be found out up to where the video clip needs to go up to.

Furthermore, it takes more time in order to figure out in which orders scenes will go in. But more so than in what order certain scenes will go in, how it will look and if it would make sense. Usually, it’s best to put two different scenes of same episode together in different orders, but it would also make more sense if it were that the two characters aren’t scene in the same frame when the next scene shows that the two are seen in the same location together. A lot of thought has to be put into it in order to figure out and how to place scenes in what order. Which is why in the second half of the video, when Gajeel’s fighting to protect Levy and goes on to show that when he collapses before Levy goes running over to him, it was done in a chronological order that would actually make sense. And even though Levy didn’t start running until he had completely fallen down, I reordered the running scene to be mixed in with the fall before Levy is seen rushing over so that it would really appear as if she’s running to him to actually begin with rather than running elsewhere to find help.

Again, remember – Thought process, thought process, thought process. To arrange scenes in ways it would make sense is one of the major importance to editing videos. More so, having to figure out how to go about with videos is of another great importance.

Until next time with another music, and another video!
