Hello, hello! It’s Tuesday again, meaning it’s time for another TV Tuesday…..!
Today’s TV Tuesday has its line shining down on the one and the only The Big Bang Theory!
The Big Bang Theory is a sitcom that runs approximately 21 minutes per episode, and this series takes place in Los Angeles, California. It’s a story that revolves around four scientists, two of whom are roommates, and three women, two that are scientists as well and one being a woman that wants to be an actress that worked as a waitress in Cheesecake Factory along the side of one of the two women scientists. Of course, one of those three female characters don’t appear until well into the series and under a very special circumstance.
The series revolves around in the very unlikely group in the most ridiculous yet funny situations, and the story line remains consistent to a certain extent. Each episode has its own story as any and all series would, but it’s in a way where the development of relationship between the characters either bloom or shows how relationship between two or more of the characters develop.
In almost every sitcom shows such as this, I personally feel as if there’s at least one comic relief character to make almost any and all situation more amusing than it normally should be. And in this show’s case, that comic relief character would, I’d have to say, would be none other than the theoretical scientist by the name of Sheldon Cooper. The man to portray Sheldon Cooper is none other than – Ready for this? – Jim Parsons! For a man that’s gay, which I must say was easy to spot for one reason or another even in his character, he does a fairly good job of portraying a man that’s straight. What’s more, not just any straight man but rather someone that has everything go over his head for not even knowing what something as simple as sarcasm is when it hits him in the face. And even for a character as funny as Sheldon, Parson does a home run of a job of portraying a character as thick headed as Sheldon when it comes to being oblivious to even what is being told to him by women.
Of course, the rest of the group has different things to contribute to the show in order to brighten the show in any and all ways possible since each character has his or her own personalities. Such as Sheldon’s roommate, Leonard Hofstadter, who from the pilot of the show is shown to be a man that is so in love with his neighbor, Penny, but is never able to confess his feelings for her. Instead, all he can do is just help her out in any and all ways he can while telling her, “I love you,” only after she closes the door behind her when entering her apartment. And it doesn’t help him much in the terms of he and his group of friends, the four male scientists, are all major geeks for anything comic book related that even attends comic conventions as superheroes. Even as far as going to Halloween parties dressed up as the superheroes as well if not even as far as going to dress up as characters from movies such as Star Wars. On top of Leonard not being able to confess his feelings for Penny that makes him funny in that way, it only adds on when Sheldon pokes his fun by cracking his dry humor jokes by making fun of Leonard. And it’s just that dry humor from Sheldon that makes the joke even funnier because his jokes aren’t funny to even begin with. But rather only a groaner that may just make you go, “Oh, Sheldon, poor you. That wasn’t funny at all,” while laughing at the same time.
You don’t have to be a scientist nor a nerd to completely understand what they’re talking about at all times. All you truly need is a good sense of humor, and it’s an almost guaranteed thing that the show will be an enjoyable thing to watch.
