Haruhi Fujioka is All About Those Grades

A basic overview about Ouran High School Host Club series before anything else. To put it simply, this show is a slice of life genre, and a story revolving around a female high school year one – American term speaking, a high school Sophomore – student by the name of Haruhi Fujioka. She’s a scholar student at a school that is designed for rich and smart, and only those that are lucky enough in the second class and lower will get a scholar to attend but at the expense of having to pass the entry exam on special occasion.

And even though Haruhi Fujioka is the main center and lead for this All About Those Grades parody video, she has been portrayed to have a voice of a male as she actually is thought to be a male by her entire school with exception of the club that she is with. But let’s be honest here – What student ISN’T all about those grades?

The one who sang the All About Those Grades – the Geek Slayer – is an Indian, and I’m not talking Native American Indian but rather India Indian. And as an Asian, I’m not trying to be racist even against myself, but it’s stereotypical for Indians and Asians to be known as the geniuses. And having to be sung by an Indian was just classically fit, and for this specific video, the perfect fit to “sing” the part was Haruhi Fujioka the scholar student herself. And the fact that she actually looks like a male AND an Asian – Japanese to be more precise – gives a boost to this parody video.

In Geek Slayer’s parody music video, there were random dancing moments, and that’s what I have given the video with close up shots of each of the hosts. And when it comes to the parents, the father was used by the more closely one in terms of behaviors as the father, which was Kyoya Ootori, a high school second year (or a high school Junior year in America’s standards) student, who is also the Vice President of the club. As for the mother, it was far more than easy to use Haruhi’s actual birth father, Ryoka Fujioka, who’s a transvestite bartender by night and actually looks like a woman but sounds somewhat like a man when having to actually watch the episodes. And altogether, this video took approximately 16 to 20 hours to make from beginning to the end.

With the song being called All About Those Grades, and when it comes to students themselves, which student isn’t all about their grades when wanting to get out with the best possible one? And even more so, who isn’t as pressured as Haruhi was in the video by their own parents when it came to their own report cards to the point where A is a must and B will only leave a student feeling as if they actually bombed it all?
