There have been cases over time where AMV (Anime Music Video) Makers have collaborated in either one AMV if not for having to do call and response AMV’s with one another. Of course, it also doesn’t mean that the AMV makers don’t do call and response to their own videos, and for this specific video – “Tamaki – Here I Am” – is one of those cases. Although not an actual full out response, I do consider it to be a response to a certain degree to my last AMV – “Take a Hint, Tamaki,” where Haruhi Fujioka and Renge have ganged up on Tamaki. Except, in the case of “Tamaki – Here I Am”, it may be more proper to title it, “Here I Am, Haruhi” for it’s a video that I have geared mainly towards a specific pairing – Tamaki and Haruhi, which is very well known in Ouran High School Host Club fandom as TamaHaru.

The reason why I have chosen out this specific song by 4Men and美(pronounced Mii), which in this video is actually a drama version from a Korean drama series called Secret Garden and sung by a character by what’s assumed to be the alias name of (when translated into English) Oscar, is because this song is all about having to say that love is all that’s needed. That receiving love is all that’s required, so the other person (the listener, which in the video’s case would be Haruhi) can take away everything in the speaker’s (in this case, Tamaki’s) life, and he’ll still feel worthless. Haruhi can even give him everything there is to the world, and even then he’ll feel worthless. Nothing can be given or taken to make him feel as if he’s worth anything, and the only thing that she has to come to realize is that no matter what, he’s always going to be there right next to her. And it’s also to get the point across that no matter what happens, the listener will never realize how much the speaker is in love with them and completely head over heels.

Now the question is this:

Why choose “Here I Am” for Tamaki and Haruhi specifically? More so than that, why for Ouran High School Host Club?

The reason to why to Ouran High School Host Club is that it’s the one series where it’s all about romance-comedy more than anything else. All about love. So why not something as obvious as a love song?

And when it comes to why specifically TamaHaru pairing when Haruhi could be paired up with five other males available and two or three other extremely minor male characters here and there throughout the series? The answer to that is quite easy – Tamaki is the one character that’s always willing to be there for everyone. And it’s been made so painfully made obvious throughout the series starting in early on in the series that he’s in love with her in various comical ways. But no matter how or what he tries to make it obvious that he’s in love with her without even him realizing it himself, he’s always willing to be there for her and always trying to let her know that he and the other members of the host club are there for her, which Haruhi never seems to acknowledge for whenever she does need to ask for help and only leans on them for any helping hand while allowing them to lean on her for one.
