Movie: Toy Story series

Genre: Animation

Movie Monday and our third spotlight of the day is Toy Story series.

Up to today, there are three Toy Story movies out so far, and those that actually grew up with the series as a small child, it can be said as something of a series that had a great start and would be a great end with just the third installment of the series alone. When Toy Story first starts, it starts out with when a young boy by the name of Andy, who could easily be assumed to be the protagonist but have to realize he’s only a mere minor character when having to recall that the movie is about toys, is still a small child and playing with all his toys, getting excited at his newest addition – Buzz Lightyear. And as the storyline between the three Toy Story movies go on, it only becomes more and more clear that the toys that Andy owns have a story to tell of their own when they are not being watched. There are even references made to other movies, such as to the infamous Star Wars series, but on very rare occasions.

When the movie reaches the third input of the series, Andy is just about ready to go into college and he is allowed to take only one toy with him, which the ending only brings a surprise by the end of the toys’ journey together. For those that grew up with the series and watched the entire thing, it’s to say the least probably one of the most touching ending and perhaps even the perfect ending since Andy most likely than not is finally no more. But for those that may not have grown up with the series at all but rather watching it when at older age, such as in high school, college or in working status, there may not be as strong of a connection.

Growing up, we all have grown up with toys – Whether they be action figures, toy cars, toy dinosaurs, dolls, or stuffed animals. And to us, they were alive in their own sense when we gave them their own voices by talking in place of the toys when playing with them. But have you ever wondered what it’s like when we’re not in the room with our toys? Do they actually come to life and do they actually feel what we do? Such as happiness. Pain. Anger.

Toy Story brings the wonder of what it’s like for the toys if it were the case that the inanimate objects are, well, not so inanimate!

Laughter, adventure, and sadness – Explore it all with Andy’s toys in through the journeys that they go through together!
