Movie: Hitch
Genre: Comedy/Romance
The third Movie Monday post of the week!
And the last spotlight of today goes to another one of Will Smith’s movies – The Hitch!
Will Smith plays another lead role in this movie, and his character in this movie is named Hitch! And when the movie begins, he starts it off with a little speech, and the speech goes something like this:
“Basic principles: No woman wakes up in the morning saying, ‘God I hope I don’t get swept off my feet today!’ Now, she might say, “This is a real bad time for me,” or something along the lines of, “I just need some space right now,” or, my personal favorite, “I’m just really into my career.” You believe that? Neither does she. You know why? Because she’s lying to you! Do you hear me? Lying! It’s not a bad time for her. She doesn’t need any space. And she may be into her career, but what she’s really saying is, “Uhh, get away from me now,” or possibly, “Try harder, stupid.” But which one is it? 60% of all human communication is nonverbal, body language. 30% is your tone, so that means that 90% of what you’re saying ain’t coming out of your mouth. Of course she’s going to lie to you! She’s a nice person! She doesn’t want to hurt your feelings! What else is she going to say? She doesn’t even know you. Yet. Luckily, like the rest of us, even a beautiful woman doesn’t know what she wants until she sees it, and that’s where I come in. My job is to open up her eyes. Basic principles: No matter what, no matter when, no matter who – Any man has a chance to sweep any woman off her feet. He just needs the right broom.”
Ridiculous, right? What kind of a man would be so desperate to try and seek help to do whatever it takes to get a woman to go out with him?
Funny thing is, one of the things that Hitch says to one of the women is questioning her if she would go out with a guy if they were to just go on up to her and told her straight out how he felt of the simple words of, “I like you.”
Women, let’s face it – If we don’t know someone, or if we do but don’t want to hurt their feelings because we don’t feel the same way about them the way they feel about us, of course we’re going to le to them straight to their face something along the three lines of what Hitch has told his audience through his monologue in the opening of the movie! And if we do end up giving them a chance just because we don’t want to be rude, what are we supposed to tell them if we didn’t enjoy our time with them? Probably use one of those lines that Hitch had stated we women tend to use.
And, men, honestly, all I can really say is that having to go through the extends of what Hitch has his clients go through may not even be necessary. In fact, the best advice that I personally may be able to give is just be yourself. It may easier said than done, but if you befriend us just by being yourself, who knows? We may be drawn to go out with you.
But that doesn’t mean that Hitch movie isn’t a fun movie to watch! In fact, the romantic-comedy that the movie has to offer is something fun to watch. Whether as a couple, as family, as friends, or even just by yourself, it’s one of those movies that may be enjoyable for everyone.
If you want something cute and fun to watch, even for a date night, Hitch movie just may be the right movie for you!
