Genre: Adventure/Fantasy
Welcome to another posting of Movie Monday!
The second spotlight of the day shines down upon Jumanji!
It’s a classic that all the kids should be familiar with – Play Jumanji board game, and whatever the board says will happen will come to be. And nothing will be the same ever again until someone reaches the end of the game and wins.
As kids, Alan Parrish and Nora Shepherd begin to play a board game called Jumanji that Alan had found in his father’s factory. When Alan takes his turn in the game, what ends up happening is that he gets sent straight into the game, keeping him trapped for good until he can be released when new players join in or when Nora decides to make her turn in the game. However, out of fear of what happened to her own friend, Nora quickly closes the game and puts it away in hopes that it will never be found to be bargained with ever again.
Years later, when Nora is all grown up, the Shepherd children, Judy and Peter, moves in with their aunt, Nora, due to a ski trip incident their parents were involved in that caused the two children to become orphans. As the two kids explore the house, they find the board game of Jumanji, and the two opens it up and begins to play. However, when the two begin to play, they manage to release Alan and sets him free to a certain degree. Now that there are now four players on board, they must play until someone wins the game. Otherwise, the disasters that they have already unleashed one by one may only bring a ruckus not just to the house, but to the world if the wild animals that had been brought out from the game manage to get out of the house and set free into the world.
Join Alan (Robin Williams), Nora (Bebe Neuwirth), Judy Shepherd (Kirsten Dunst), and Peter Shepherd (Bradley Pierce) in their wild adventures that all started from a simple board game – Jumanji! An excite adventure awaits!
